Hungry and Thirsty?

It’s that time of the year again. Thanksgiving. While we should be thankful all year around for our blessings, we celebrate a little more with food and family.

I want to challenge your thinking. You should NOT be happy with what you have. You should NOT settle with your current status. You should crave and want more. It should be something on your mind continually and you should not lose sight. You should want it so badly as if it was a need to live.

What is that “more” I’m talking about?

Take a look at Matthew 5:6. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

I love the illustration here and the point addressed. Jesus wants us to crave righteous things as if it is a daily need. Food and water are for our physical body, righteousness is for our spiritual needs.

During this time, it’s easy to crave worldly and materialistic things. Godly things are what we should draw to. Do you actively crave righteous things? What are some of the righteous things we should desire? Take a look at this description of righteous things.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” – Phillipians 4:8. (ESV)

So when you start craving turkey, pumpkin pie, or some more stuffing, remember to crave righteousness too to satisfy your spiritual hunger .
