Heart Breaking

How could someone forget that their 2 year old was in their car still? How could you be an assistant principal of a school (and surrounded by kids) and not think of your own?

See this story for more. (Link fixed!)

  2. The same thing happened in our town around the same time. There are lots of questions raised -- like how no one passed the car in the parking lot & saw the child, how the mom could get out of the car and not happen to glance at the backseat, why it couldn't have happened a week later when the temperatures were much cooler. In the case that happened near us, it was routine for the Dad to take their two children to daycare and the mom picks them up. One of their children was sick so Dad stayed home and Mom was supposed to drop off their younger child. She completely forgot & drove to work as was her routine. I guess the child was asleep or extremely quiet on the way to work. After work, she drove to pick up her child from daycare according to her routine. She got INSIDE, the workers there said, "you didn't drop him off today," and I imagine it hit them all at the same time and they all ran out to the car. My heart breaks every time I think about the poor child wondering when his mommy was going to come get him. All the little things that could have happened throughout the day to change the situation and make Mom realize she left her child in the car -- but none of them happened.

A truly, truly sad situation. I am grateful in the confidence that God is holding those children in His hands right now, where they are away from all suffering.
