Thoughts on the Mary Winkler Trial

Last Spring, the murder of Matthew Winkler took place and we were in Oklahoma. Now we are here and the trial is taking place. In case you didn't know, Matthew Winkler was a minister (not a pastor) in the Church of Christ. He was Mary were students at Freed Hardeman University.

The Winkler family has written many books that are worthy of study. They are also a family full of gospel preachers.

Right now, the closing arguments are taking place. It's weird to be listening to a defense that is not trying to prove she didn't do it. Instead, their showing why she did it and how she was the victim. Matthew Winkler is the one on trial. It's really disappointing how this case turned out. I thought at one point, she was simply saying she was guilty and ready to take her punishment. Now, she is trying to get out of it. I'll be surpised if she is not found guilty of something. My guess is that it will be 2nd degree murder.

My heart goes out to the children. The defense attorney is accusing Matthew Winkler's family of "segregation." He's saying that they won't let her see her mother. Well, I think they have good reason. Mary is not the victim. Matthew and the children are. They will never see their father again.

I hope the jury decides this quickly. I guess we'll find out soon.

This
is a good source of up to date information on the case.

"As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him." - Psalms 103:13 (ESV)
