I found a great article in our church bulletin archieves. I think it hits the nail on the head: we need parents who are parenting, not being a friends. I'll have to admit, its hard to be a parent sometimes. The other day, Addi through a fit because Kim braided her hair. Call DHR! She said it looked like a boy hair style. Anyway, I took her to her room for a spaking. She squirmed and wiggled and wouldn't turn over. Then she said "Please don't hit me, Daddy! Please don't hit me." Boy, it was hard to give a spaking then.

At church we went to a video series called "Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours", (I had to miss a few, due to teaching), but I enjoyed it. The guy gives good advice about spanking and "reality dispiline".
