Learning About Death

Kim's Aunt Mary's mother passed away yesterday after a fight with cancer. This is cousin Jasmine and Alex's grandmother. Our prayers go out to that family in this time of loss.


Addi is still young enough where she doesn't quite understand what death is. When our dog Shadow died last summer, we told her that Shadow had a boo-boo and died. She wasn't coming back. But just the other day, Addi saw a dog in the neighborhood that looked like her and said "Shadow's back!"

She also thinks that people go to Oklahoma when they die. This is why: my grandmother passed away back in October and I flew to Oklahoma for the funeral. We've talked to Addi that people who obey God can go to Heaven when they die. Being the smart little girl she is prompted her to say: "Addi wants to go. You want to go too?"

Now is Oklahoma like heaven? No, but it was a great place to live.
